Bad comments on photos posted on the social networking site facebook ignited a boxing match between two guys inside a mall in Colon, last Saturday afternoon.

A 16-year-old male living in Gullas St commented on the Facebook photos of a 15-year-old acquaintance, both of whom shared a common friend, a popular radio DJ in Mandaue City.

Among the photos which the 16-year-old commented, featured the 15-year-old wearing a black gown in a beauty contest. On the photo, the older one commented, in English, that he (the 15-year-old) looks like “Piolo Pascual not wearing a make-up.”

On another photo, the one depicting the younger guy eating spaghetti in a Jollibee fastfood chain, the older guy commented, “Nindota ikaon ug bitok ron uy!” (It’s nice to eat worms today!)

When they bump into each other inside the grocery department of Metro Gaisano, the younger guy allegedly delivered an upper cut to the other’s jaw, flooring him. Regaining his composure, the older one stood up, danced around the opponent, and later responded with a left hook. They began to exchange blows and punches. Store clerks and shoppers cheered lustily as the two fighters fight, knocking over some milk cans and boxes of breakfast cereals.

The incident, which started around three in the afternoon, lasted until 6 o’ clock, when all of a sudden, everyone stood silent, recited the Angelus.

The older one later went to a nearby police station to file an analysis on the fight. He complained about the below the belt hit, which he had received from his younger opponent, and sought a rematch. The head of the women and children’s desk quickly sent a friend request to the two parties, and twittered the incident to ALA Boxing Gym, with the Tweet saying, “Post to box”.

In a text message sent to PHG Sports, the younger one said he will seek advice from Sugar Shane Mosley about the rematch. He is leaving for Las Vegas, USA to choreograph Mosley on the latter’s upcoming megafight with Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Marathoner Turns At Wrong Mark; Becomes Half-Marathoner

CEBU CITY – Local marathon hobbyist Junio Dela Rama, 43, participant in the 1st Cebu City Marthon, made a wrong turn at the 21K mark and suddenly became a half-marathon hobbyist. Dela Rama earlier registered for the 42K event. He blamed the scantily-clad and likewise scantily-weighed female runners (see inset photo) for his uncharacteristic loss of orientation. He was officially disqualified from the race in which he was not favored by a long shot to win anyway.

“I realized I had made a mistake when I noticed there were only 12 of the 42K runners in front of me,” he remarked. “Two of them were chicks and, man, their legs just went on forever!”

Local drunks who had been drinking well into daybreak were found laughing in the vicinity but it remains unconfirmed whether they were laughing at Dela Rama’s error or at a Pacman text joke. Further attempts to get a comment from the drunks were unsuccessful, as they had no sooner passed out on one of the tables at Routestop Convenience Store.

Had he not been disqualified, Dela Rama would have placed 27th in the marathon, clocking in at a personal 42K best 2 hours and 38 minutes. He finished 239th in the 21K event, a feat that he has a hard time surrendering to disqualification.

He is set to file a protest, which is set to be taken with very little gravity, tomorrow. – DS
